Who we are

Morocco Immersion Tours & Adventures is a tour operating company specializing tours in Morocco (the “Services“) and is operated by Morocco Immersion LLC, a company headquartered in the State of Maryland in the United States (“we“, “us“, “our“, “Morocco Immersion“, “Morocco Immersion Tours & Adventures“, and “MITA“).  Our website address is: https://moroccoimmersion.com.

Services include planning, arranging, and operating private/custom (for individuals and outbound tour providers) and group tours in Morocco.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

(i) Information you provide to us: In the course of engaging with our Services, you may provide Personal Information about you. Personal Information is often, but not exclusively, provided to us when you book a tour with us, use our contact form, send us an email, or communicate with us in any other way.

We will let you know prior to collection whether the provision of Personal Information we are collecting is compulsory or if it may be provided on a voluntary basis and the consequences, if any, of not providing the information. By giving us this information, you agree to this information being collected, used and disclosed as described in this privacy policy.

This information may include you name, email address, your IP address, and other information that you choose to share with us. After booking a tour with us, you may be asked to provide further information such as travel insurance data, emergency contact information and dietary restrictions. This information is used to manage your tour experience, but is voluntary and, when provided, shared only essential employees such as the Director of Operations and your Tour Manager.

(ii) Information we collect automatically: When you visit our website, we may automatically collect certain information about your device and usage of the Services. We use cookies and other tracking technologies to collect some of this information. Our use of cookies and other tracking technologies is discussed more below, and in more detail in the section entitled “cookies”.

This information may include:

Device information: We collect information about the device and applications you use to access our website, such as your IP address, your operating system, your browser ID, and other information about your system and connection.

Log data: Our web servers keep log files that record data each time a device accesses those servers and those log files contain data about the nature of each access, including originating IP addresses.

Product usage data: We collect usage data about you whenever you interact with our website, which may include the dates and times you access the site and your browsing activities (such as what pages of the site were visited). This information allows us to improve the content and operation of the website, and facilitate research and analysis of the Services.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact forms

Contact Us Form: When you fill out a Contact Form, your name, email address, and your message are required (telephone number is optional) and captured metadata including your IP address, date & time of submission, and the page from which you submitted the form.  This information is retained for 5 years for customer service purposes, but we do not use this information for marketing purposes.

Tour Registration Forms: Upon booking one of our group tours, we will request that you submit a Pre-Trip Registration Form that includes information that helps us to best provide our services.  Personal Data collected in this form includes your name, email address, contact phone number, passport number, nationality, birthdate, room preferences, gender (used for roommate matching), flight information, dietary restrictions and/or other issues such as limited mobility, and any special reasons for traveling.  In addition to this data, metadata including your IP address, date & time of submission, and the page from which you submitted the form is also captured.  This form is not required in order to participate in a group tour and the information provided is retained for 3 years and used solely for customer service purposes and is not used for marketing.  This information is only shared with third parties as needed. For example, if you advise us that you have limited mobility, we may share that information with the accommodation’s provider to insure that your room is in a location that is manageable.

Event Registration Forms: Occasionally, we may host special events or informational sessions.  To register for these events, we may request that you complete an event registration form including your name, email address, and number of people attending.  This information is used for planning purposes and to communicate information about the event.  It is not used for marketing purposes.  Additionally metadata is captured when these forms are submitted including your IP address, date & time of submission, and the page from which you submitted the form.  The information provided is retained for 1 year and is not used for marketing purposes unless you opt-in to receiving our newsletter.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website. This includes our group tour booking forms which is embedded content from our third-party online booking platform, Checkfront (see “Who we share information with” for more details).

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Analytics

This site uses Google Analytics to analyze the site usage. Although, we do not currently use Google Analytics for re-marketing, we do collect basic information such as location, referrals, organic search terms, etc.  This information is retained for 26 months. Who we share your data with

To simplify the booking process and to notify customers of promotions and general news, we utilize the following third party service providers/plug-ins:

MailChimp: We use MailChimp as our online marketing service for sending newsletters to our email mailing list.  We share your name and email address with MailChimp only if you explicitly opt-in to receiving our newsletter. For your reference, please see MailChimp’s Privacy Policy.

Checkfront: We use Checkfront as our online booking platform. Personal Data processed through Checkfront includes your name, address, email address, and contact number.   Information provided during the booking process is used only for customer service purposes. Checkfront may use cookies for your convenience in order to create a customer account and/or to provide analytics.  For more information, please refer to the following: Checkfront Terms of Service, Checkfront Privacy Policy, Checkfront Cookie Policy.

Stripe: We use Stripe to process payments for online bookings (through Checkfront).  Personal data processed includes your name, email address, address, and credit card information.  Credit Card information is passed directly to Stripe (we do not have access nor do we retain this information) which is GDPR compliant.  For more information, please refer to Stripe’s Privacy Policy.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
