FAQs
In Zagori villages and Meteora (where prices are lower compared to the islands) you can estimate on average around 12 – 17€ per person for dinner when it is not included. A carafe with ½ liter of house wine costs approximately 4€; beers around 2.5-3.5€ and refreshments around 1.5 – 2€.
Naxos and Santorini are a bit more expensive since these are more popular destinations, so they should estimate around 15 – 20€ per person for dinner, 5€ for ½ liter of house wine, 3.5 – 5€ for a beer, and 2-3€ for refreshments at restaurants.
Bottled water in Greece comes at 0.5€ the small bottle and 1€ the big bottle (although cheaper is bought at a supermarket). A coffee at a café would be around 3 – 4€ (in Santorini maybe a bit more), alcoholic drinks on the islands around 6-8€ per drink. In general, eating and drinking outside in Greece is relatively cheap, compared to other European countries or the USA.
During our trip to the mountains & Meteora, guests have minimum extra expenses, besides their drinks (which are very cheap there by the way), because most of the services are included.
On the islands it is a bit different, because guests will likely want to go out for a drink, do some shopping. etc.
You can use both in Greece; however cash is always much more appreciated here, compared to credit cards (the opposite of what you are mentioning!)
We will definitely inform guests accordingly during our briefing on day 1, but here is some basic info:In the Zagori villages there are only 2 ATMs among the villages, so we would advise them to withdraw cash before departing from Athens. On the islands (and in Meteora), there are ATMs everywhere (attached to banks, besides the touristic ones), so no worries, they will be able to find plenty of them in all places.
This rafting is very easy, especially in summer time when water levels are quite low. It is not demanding at all in terms of physical requirements, people mostly enjoy the beautiful crystal clear river and the surrounding natural landscape which is stunning. No limitations.
For the mountain portion of the trip, we will use a 20 passenger bus and we will have a maximum of 16 guests. This size bus will allow us to be more nimble and reach areas that a larger bus will not be able to get to. On the islands, we can use a larger bus if needed.
Because we feel that the mountains will be a great opportunity to get off of the main tourist track and mingle with the locals, we do encourage you to join for the whole trip; however, since we don't have quite the same limitations on transportation as in the mountains, we will consider opening a small number of seats for just this portion of the trip. Contact Sharon for more information about this (sharon@moroccoimmersion,com).
